Marjorie Greer Obituary

Marjorie "Marge" Taylor Greer, 80, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, of complications due to emphysema.

Margie was born Aug. 15, 1927, to Thomas Jiles Taylor and Lolieta Cobb Taylor.

She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and was one of the first female CPAs in the state of South Carolina and also founded Greenville's first computer accounting company in 1972. She was employed at Sunland Distribution of Greenville at the time of her retirement.

She is survived by two sons, Douglas E. Greer Jr. and his wife, Ricelyn T. Greer, and Marcus E. Greer; her four grandchildren, Michael D. Greer, Michelle G. Cardell and her husband, Brad Cardell, Jason Greer and his wife, Jessica Greer, and Jessica Greer; her two great-grandchildren, Caelan and Eris Greer; as well as her sister, Evelyn Syfrett and her husband, Harold Syfrett, of Charleston, and her half sister, Edna Koon of Spartanburg, S.C.

The Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at 2 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, with the Rev. Harold Syfrett officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to her most cared for charity, Safe Harbor for Women, P.O. Box 174, Greenville, SC 29602.
