Mark Aaron Wilhoit, 27, of Simpsonville, died March 10, 2014.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of Warren "Will" and Patty Wilhoit.
He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Carolina Upstate and worked as a trainer at Verizon.
Mark is remembered for always trying to make others smile and his contagious laughter. He loved rebuilding old cars and making them new again, learning about every recent technological advance, and cheering on his beloved Gamecocks.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Tiffany McGee and her husband, Chad, of Simpsonville; two nephews, Cole and Asher McGee, of Simpsonville; maternal grandparents, Edward and Mozelle Peoples; paternal grandparents, Warren and Rosemarie Wilhoit, all of Simpsonville; his girlfriend, Rachel Cooper of Simpsonville; uncles and aunts, Mike and Diane Peoples, Gary and Brenda Peoples, Linda and Rich Connors, John and Carol Peoples, Chris Wilhoit, and Dawn Knowles; and his cousins, Rachel Acord, Joshua Peoples, Bethany Porter, Daniel Peoples, Halle Peoples, Stephanie Buda, Katie Redman, Brian Peoples, Jamie Peoples, Ansley Peoples, Emily Peoples, Matthew Peoples, Melissa Connors, and Jon Knowles.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 in the chapel of the funeral home with burial following at Graceland East Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Triune Mercy Center, 222 Rutherford Street, Greenville, SC 29609.

Dear Wilhoit Family,
Mark was a classmate of mine. He will always be remembered for his spontaneous and contagious laughter from when we were all younger. I had the privilege of catching up with him just a month ago about his career so far and upcoming goals. He was successful, driven and above all had a very caring heart.

Warren & Patty. So sorry for your loss. Can't fathom the pain you must have in your heart. No parent should have to lay their child to rest. I still can't believe Mark is gone. I have known him since we were 13. I always knew I could call or text him if I needed someone to make me smile. His smile and laugh were so contagious. I will truly miss his goofy self. He was the biggest sweetheart I had ever met. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family.

Mark was a true friend who put others before himself and tried to serve in any way he could. Every time he was at work, there was a greater, stronger, positive energy that was clearly felt. Dear Wilhoit Family,
Mark was a dear friend and colleague of mine at Verizon. It saddens me to hear this news of his passing. Honestly, he was so great of a person and really cared about the people around him. I witnessed him take control of his career and kept his sights on being great by just being himself. He sure had a way with words and he was genuine. Mark was on the demo team at DPMA with my oldest daughter Miranda many years ago. He was always joking around and trying to make others laugh. He was a great young man and even though they all went their own ways, those kids were a team and a family and they worked hard together because they loved what they did and they were proud of their school and their team.

The sun was so warm yesterday when Matthew peck told me about mark. The first thing I remembered was his smile and how it would always ease the stress on those long Friday nights at the karate school. Then the tears came as a lifetime of memories came rushing back and my heart broke for you and the pain you must be feeling. I know time has put miles between us but I want you to know mark was a part of my family as well and my heart, thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am do very sorry for your lose. Mark and I worked at BiLo together in high school. He could always cheer someone up. Mrs. Wilhoit used to come in there all the time and he would be so happy to see you. I always had to fuss at him for goofing off. He will truly be missed...
