Matthew "Jake" Taylor Stutt

Spartanburg

Matthew "Jake" Taylor Stutt, 21, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Born May 14, 1993, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Samuel Hal Stutt, Sr. and Tina Knighton Stutt.

Jake graduated from North Augusta High School and was a rising senior at The Citadel, Charleston, SC. Jake also served as an active member of the National Guard.

Jake is survived by his parents, Samuel Hal Stutt, Sr. (Kathryn Myers Stutt) of Lexington, SC, and Tina Knighton Stutt of Greenville, SC; his siblings, Brittany Stutt Powell (Tyler Wyles Powell) of Spartanburg, SC, Lauren Stutt Wills (Cameron Douglas Wills) of Lakeland, FL, and Samuel Hal Stutt II of Greenville, SC; grandparents, G. Barry Stutt of Spartanburg, SC (the late Rita Graham Stutt), Barbara Randall Knighton of Moore, SC (the late Denny Lee Knighton), and Hal M. Kanoy of The Villages, FL; nephew, Thomas Hunter Lewis of Spartanburg, SC; and stepbrothers, Claude Dylan Huff Jr. and Jonathan Michael Huff, both of Lexington, SC.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, June 6, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. D. J. Horton. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.

Memorials may be made to The Citadel Alumni Association, Holliday Alumni Center, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409.

The family is at the home of his grandmother, Barbara Knighton, 210 Collette Drive, Moore, SC.
