Nancy Tooley Obituary

Nancy Dean Chamblee Tooley, born March 7, 1925, went to be with her Lord on Nov. 2, 2001. She died in her home under hospice care.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of Bessie Smith Chamblee and the late Roger Jackson Chamblee of Anderson. She was a graduate of Anderson Girls High School and Furman University, 1946, and a retired teacher of 35 years from Greer High School. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Greer First Baptist Church - General Adult Sunday School Class, where she taught third grade Sunday School and was a member of the Hospital Guidettes.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Howell Cantrell Tooley; one son, William Howell Tooley and his wife, Michelle; one daughter, Jane Tooley Van Laar and her husband, Bill; two grandsons, Charles Ryan White and Travis William Tooley; two stepgrandsons, Ian and Noah Guthrie; a daughter-in-law, Laura Schmidt; two sisters, Dorothy Chamblee Powell and husband, Raleigh, and Joann Chamblee McCaskill and husband Laverne. She is also survivied by numerous nieces, nephews, and life-long friends that she dearly loved.

Mrs. Tooley was predeceased in death by her father, Roger Jackson Chamblee; and her daughter, Martha Ann Tooley.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today, Nov. 5, 2001, at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Dr. Wilson Nelson. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Smith Wham, Gordan Hammond, Bill Zehrung, Scott Nelson, David Dobson, Al McCaskill, and Gregg Dobson.

The family is at the home, 104 Blue Ridge Drive, Greer.

In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to the Nancy Tooley Memorial Education Fund, P.O. Box 1427, Greer, SC 29652, or to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Suite 100, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
