Nicholas Corontzes Obituary
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Barton Corontzes; 2 sons, Zachary Harry Corontzes and wife, Marion, of Clemson and Andrew Nicholas Corontzes of Charleston, SC; a daughter, Andrea Corontzes Bryan and husband, Ransom, of Charleston; 4 brothers, Stephen Alexander Corontzes of Conway, SC, Zachary John Corontzes, George James Corontzes, and Theodore Andrew Corontzes all of Clemson; 2 grandchildren, Ransom Preston Bryan and Mary Helen Bryan.
Nick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His warm smile, contagious laugh, and fun-loving personality will remain ever present for all who know him.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, August 22 at 2PM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clemson, SC, with Revs. John Nieman and David Sinclair will be officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church Parrish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Helen's Hugs, 524 Squire Circle, Clemson, SC 29631. It has been over 15 years since Nicks passing, and I still sometimes wake up at night laughing when I think of the fun times we had together. We miss him so much.

Nancy, entire Corontzes family. Nick was such a strong force, such a father away from home figure, such a deep throw-your-head-back laugher, such a tight squeezing hugger…there's no way his memory will ever fade. I have so many priceless memories that I will hold dear always. I hope time heals the pain of losing Nick and the memories comfort during the sad times. I love you all and am thinking about you constantly.

Though it's been 30 years since I've seen Nick, I'll never forget his smile and his role as a pharmacist mentor when I was Revco intern back in the early '80s. I loved working with him and my thoughts are with his wife and family.

I recently spoke with Zack and was looking forward to visiting Clemson with my children. I am sad that they will not have the chance to get to know Nick. He had a personality that could fill up a room and make everyone feel right at home. He will be missed but not forgotten.

To Nancy and the Corontzes family -I cannot express the profound sadness I felt for all of you when I learned of Nick's illness and passing. Over the years, I never saw him that he wasn't bubbling over with love for his friends and family. We literally did grow up together, starting at Brockman Elementary School, then Crayton, then Flora. I feel so fortunate that I did get to see him recently and get one of his bear hugs at our Flora reunion in November! He was always a dear, dear person with an inner light that few can begin to match. Please know that your family has been and will continue to be in my prayers and those of my family. I am very blessed that my parents are still living, and they remember Nick and especially his mother very fondly. God bless you all.

Nancy and family,
I know that all SAE brothers at Clemson from our our era remember Nick as one of the most memorable friends and exceptional personalities of our college experience. He & I were in the same pledge class, and Nick was definitely a ring leader! I will always remember him leaning his head back and laughing that great laugh of his. I was a friend of Nicky's brother Zach in grammer school, met Nicky when he joined our church choir in high school, then worked on he and Nancy's animals (I was a licensed veterinary technician at a vet hospital in Lexington) when Nicky was a pharmacist. My mother taught their brother George in kindergarten...so we've enjoyed knowing various members of the Corontzes family earlier in life. Nicky always made people laugh, always had a smile, and when we read in the paper of his passing, we were so sad. He was a person that you remember with a smile throughout your entire life. I am so sorry to hear of Nick's passing.I got to know Nick way back in Greek & Sunday school days in Columbia.He was always well liked & respected.Never a bully but could "take care" of one if necessary.He was always a great guy.I regret not seeing him much over the years.He will be sadly missed & fondly remembered.

Heaven is a richer place now! I am deeply heart broken to learn of Nick's passing, yet oh so glad I had the good fortune of knowing him. Our world here will not be the same without his laughter but the memories of him will live on in everyones hearts. He loved making other laugh...and knew just the right way to make others feel great. Leo and I would like to express our sincere sympathies to the entire family. I met Nick and Nancy while we were attending Clemson. I have many fond memories of SAE parties. Nick always made people feel welcome and special. Later, while living in the Columbia area, we reconnected and I have memories of some fun times spent together while the children were young. I was saddened to hear of Nick's passing. I had seen him less than a year ago at our high school mini-reunion.
I remember Nick as being friendly toward everyone. He was never the "arrogant jock" type.

Nick was bigger than life. I'll always remember that smile... Few people can smile like that. When I think of the old school SAE brothers He's right there. His picture is in an old composite photo over my desk and I look at it every day ... good times and he was a big part of them.
