Robert Hood Obituary

Robert Joe Hood, Sr., 65, husband of Kathy Paxton Hood, died Sunday, February 22, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late William George, Sr., and Edna Suddeth Hood.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam and was awarded three Bronze Stars. He retired from Duncan's Home Care Center after 38 years and was a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.

In addition to his wife, Kathy Paxton Hood of the home, he is survived by sons, Joe Hood, Jr. and his wife Sarah of Denham Springs, LA, Jason Edward Hood and his wife Melena of Gaffney; sisters, Louise Harris, Margaret Weisner, and Kathy Horne, all of Pelzer; brothers, Richard Fred Hood of Piedmont, George Hood, Jr. and Charles Hood, both of Pelzer; and grandchildren, Ashetyn Hood, Noah Hood, Makayla and Gunner.

He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Novasky; and a brother, James Hood.

Visitation will be 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith. Funeral services will follow at the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Mike Montgomery and Pastor Joe James officiating. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Cancer Centers of the Carolinas, 3 Butternut Drive, Suite B, Greenville, SC 29605.

Gray Mortuary, Pelzer is in charge of arrangements.
