Ron Austin Obituary

James Ronald "Ron" Austin, 64, husband of Elaine Jones Austin, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late James Hilliard and Catherine Branson Austin.

Mr. Austin was a retired purchasing manager for Holly Oak Chemical and a charter member of White Oaks Baptist Church on Fairforest Way. He was a deacon and former song director.

He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. He was in the Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Chadwick Ronald Austin and wife, Jessica Morton Austin, of Simpsonville; a grandson, Trenton Ronald Austin; mother-in-law, Vera Jones of Simpsonville; and three sisters-in-law, Becky Rice and husband Cotton, Rachel Jones and Judy Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Oaks Baptist Church, 30 Fairforest Way, Greenville, SC 29607.

Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2008, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held in the Downtown Chapel on Saturday, February 9, 2008, at 1:30 p.m.

The family will be at the son's home at 204 Brown Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29681.
