Harold Batson Obituary

Harold Manning Batson, Sr., 92, of Greenville, died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Oakmont West Nursing Center.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Henry Lee and Geneva Poole Batson.

Mr. Batson retired from Ryder Truck Lines and was a member of Berea First Baptist Church. He was a member of Sam Poe Masonic Lodge #284, a lifelong member of the Shriners and Teamsters Local #28.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-eight years, Caroline Farr Batson, of the home; a daughter, Elaine Malcolm of Greenville; a son, Harold Batson, Jr. and wife, Pat, of Greenville; four grandchildren, Brian Batson and wife Alison, Dean Batson and wife Wendy, Milissa Alexander, and Pam Conder and husband Bryon; and seven great-grandchildren, Amanda Alexander, Dustin, Graham, Emily, Bailey and Parks Batson, and Darryl Ivester.

He is predeceased by a sister, Helen Pardue.

Services will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Berea First Baptist Church with visitation from 2 to 3:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be Monday at Woodlawn Memorial Park at 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Berea First Baptist Church, 529 Farrs Bridge Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
