Sara Moorhead Obituary

Sara Dawson Moorhead, 89, widow of Major John R. Moorhead, died Dec. 5, 2002.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late John David and Zoa Pearl Sheriff Dawson.

Mrs. Moorhead was a homemaker and a member of White Oak Baptist Church where she was very active in all phases of the church life.

Surviving are two sons, William E. Moorhead of Mims, Fla., and Richard L. Moorhead of Greenville; six grandchildren, John Moorhead III, Sara Burlick, Timothy, David, Earle, and Amie Moorhead; three great-grandchildren, Erica Brown, Samantha Burke, and Kimberleigh Ford; and three great-great-grandchildren, Alexis and Hunter Burke, and David Moorhead Jr.

She was predeceased by her son, John R. Moorhead Jr.; two brothers, David and Joseph Herman Dawson; and sister, Amy Cunningham.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at White Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. William Hightower officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
