Stephen Epling Obituary

Stephen Roger Epling, 65, beloved husband for over 46 years of Jennie Epling, died at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005.

He was born on November 15, 1939, in Ramage, W.Va., the son of the late Clarence Dow Epling and Mary Jane Epling of Greenville.

He was a devoted husband, father, son, grandfather and friend, who traveled the world with his family. He had a distinguished 23 year career in the U.S. Navy and retired a Lt. Commander. He also worked in Saudi Arabia with King Faisal Hospital for over 10 years.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter and her husband of Simpsonville, Leslie Kay Cook and husband Hubert John Cook; two grandchildren, Skyler Joelle Cook and Zachary Stephen Cook, both of Simpsonville; one brother, Robert Carl Epling of Tampa, Fla. He was predeceased by his daughter, Nisa Lynn Epling; and brother, Stanley Thompson Epling.

The family received visitors at his daughter's home on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catfish Hunter Chapter of ALS Association.
