Stephen Felt Obituary

Stephen Felt

Greenville

Stephen Felt was surrounded by his family when he passed into eternity Sunday evening, October 7, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital, Eastside.

Born January 9, 1928 in Campbell, Ohio, he was the son of Michael and Mary Prochak Felt.

Mr. Felt enlisted in the US Army at 17 and served two tours of duty during the Korean War, where he served as a Platoon Scout and a Medic. He married the former Josephine Putkovich where they began their life in Youngstown, OH and were parishioners at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church. Later, they moved to Poland, OH where he worked for Valley Mold in Hubbard.

Following retirement, the Felts moved to Greenville. Always a football fan, Mr. Felt followed his older grandsons from the Eastside Dolphins through college football at Wingate University and Clemson University.

He acquired a new interest in cross country at JL Mann while following his youngest grandson. He was especially proud of his granddaughters and enjoyed seeing their dance recitals and competitions.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Josephine Putkovich Felt; three sons, Stephen Michael Felt and wife Patty of Columbus, OH, David Brian Felt and wife Susie and Matthew Joseph Felt and wife Monica, all of Greenville; five grandchildren, Brooks, of Marshville, NC, Tyler, Mitchell, Megan and Miranda, all of Greenville; and a sister, Helen and husband Tony Williott, of Youngstown, OH.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, 1604 NE Main St., Simpsonville, SC 29681. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012. Burial will be in MJ "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
