William Campbell Obituary

Funeral services for Dr. William Cox Campbell will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with burial following at Elmwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church; or S.C. Comprehensive Breast Care Center, c/o Palmetto Health Foundation, 9 Richland Medical Park Drive, Suite 600, Columbia, SC 29203.

Dr. Campbell died Monday, December 24, 2001. Born in Houston, Texas, he was a son of Barbara Fox and the late James W. Campbell. Dr. Campbell was a graduate of Wofford College and the Medical University of South Carolina, completing his residency in 1983. He was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He was a member of the American Medical Association, South Carolina Medical Association, Columbia Medical Society and the Medical Journal Club.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, was a Sunday School teacher and was recently elected as an Elder. Dr. Campbell was a member and the incoming Chairman of the Camellia Ball. He was an avid hunter and deep sea fisherman as well as a loving husband, father, son and employer.

Surviving are his wife, Joanne Dukes Campbell; his son, William Bradley Campbell, of Columbia; his daughter, Carolyn Anne Campbell, of Columbia; his mother, of Charleston; and a brother, James Bradley Campbell, of Greenville. Dr. Campbell was predeceased by a sister, Cynthia Campbell Markham.
