Frances Smith Obituary

Frances M. Smith, devoted wife and mother, passed away at the age of 89 in Greensboro, NC.

Frances married the love of her life, Richard Smith, in 1959 (just celebrated their 64th Anniversary). She is survived by her husband, Richard, and their three children: Lauren Fusco(Kevin), Gretchen Dascoli(Paul), and Trip Smith(Gina Ferguson).

Frances's caring nature extended to her grandchildren, Dominic Dascoli, Kristyn Fusco-Dempsey, Erin Fusco, Alex Dascoli-Wagstaff and Megan Fusco. She was also blessed to know the joy of being a great-grandmother to Cameron Dempsey.

A former nurse at Greenwich Academy for 24 years, affectionately known as "Nursie" by students and faculty, dedicated her life to the well-being of others. Her compassionate spirit, sense of humor and impact she had on her family and community will be remembered fondly.

Fran leaves behind a legacy of love, an infectious whistle and her prized recipe for fudge brownies.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of Grace Church-Greensboro, NC on 12/6/2023.

Graveside service will be held in April 2024 at St. Mary Cemetery, Greenwich.

Memorials may be made to the Associate Appreciation Fund at Heritage Greens, 801 Meadowood St., Greensboro, NC 27409.

Fran was a good friend, a terrific nurse and had a fantastic sense of humor and a master of the practical joke! She and my late wife Sue, also a nurse, were great friends.
