Ali Wallace Mirza, born June 13th, 1993, passed away peacefully of heart complications on May 17 at Claremont McKenna College in California, where he had just completed his sophomore year. Beloved and devoted son of Liz and Mustafa Mirza of Westport, CT, best friend to brother Akbar, and adored by grandmother Anis, Ali is also survived by his many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins including Susan Mirza and her children Alexander, Christina and Sean of Greenwich, Salman and Neelum Amin and their children Raza and Yawer of Rye, NY, Samina Noorani of Stamford, Munawar Noorani and Fareed and Maria Ameen and their daughters Natalia and Sophia of London, UK, Veronica and Marcus Casserd and son Zack of Bellingham, WA, Ronald Cairns of Fremont, CA, and many other friends and family members coast to coast and around the world. Ali was a class of 2011 graduate of Staples High School, Westport, CT. An avid volleyball player, he was a dedicated member of the Staples High School varsity volleyball team and the Claremont Colleges club volleyball team. In addition to his love of fitness, Ali was a creative young man, passionate and knowledgeable about many genres of music and was known for his interest in both eastern and western styles. Ali's constant smile lit up every gathering and he was well known for his giving and selfless ways. Warm and confident, he had many "best" friends. Ali was cherished and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were private. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Ali's life which will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 11:30am followed by lunch at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 1800 E. Putnam Ave, Old Greenwich, CT 06870. To honor Ali's dedication to his alma maters, friends are welcome to wear Staples High School or Claremont McKenna College insignia apparel.
The family plans to support the scholastic and athletic needs of Claremont McKenna College in Ali's name. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Ali Mirza Fund, Claremont McKenna College, Office of Development, 400 N. Claremont Blvd, Claremont, CA 91711.
