Cynthia Lupo Obituary

Cynthia Anne Lupo
2/18/1953- 11/11/2024
Cynthia Lupo died peacefully Monday, November 11, 2024 at her home in Mystic, CT surrounded by her daughter Jordan Lupo and son-in-law Joe Graves, following a long illness. Graveside prayers will be held at the Belmont Cemetery, 121 Grove Street, Belmont, MA, on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
Cynthia was a beloved daughter, mother and friend who was born in Boston, MA on February 18, 1953 to Joseph Edward Kerigan II and Barbara McCarthy Kerigan. Cynthia's journey began in Belmont, MA before moving to Longmeadow, MA where she came of age with her lifelong friends and family, Mary Lafler, Ted Cox, Mitch Guild and Heather Knapp, among others. Cynthia was adventurous, creative, generous, resilient, fearless and strong willed. As she was growing up, Cynthia fell in love with art, architecture, antiques, clothes design, gardening, cooking, and baking. Cynthia actively enjoyed the outdoors by sailing and skiing and her love for adventure sent her hiking from Greenland to Europe.
Cynthia graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1975 and completed her education with a Masters degree in Interior design from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA in 1977. Cynthia had a deep passion for the fine arts, which was demonstrated by her own practice of drawing and painting and her many visits to museums around the Northeast and the world.
Cynthia and her former husband Robert Lupo added to their family in 1990 with the arrival of their daughter Jordan Lupo. Cynthia raised her daughter in Old Greenwich, CT where she was actively involved in Jordan's life. Cynthia imparted to Jordan the importance of appreciating the big and little things in life, such as sunsets, oceans, mountains as well as shells and flowers, and finding peace and joy in them. When not in Old Greenwich, CT, Cynthia showed the Lupo family the joys of travelling, by planning many trips to Hawaii, the British Virgin Islands, Ireland, Italy, Greece, France and more. The Lupo family shared many memorable moments. During the winter months, with extended family and friends, they skied from New England to Colorado.
Cynthia was a member of the Garden Club of Old Greenwich as well as the Friends of Greenwich Point, where she helped restore tall grasses. Cynthia was also a member of the Old Greenwich Yacht Club and raced Ideal 18's with Women on the Water. In 2005, Cynthia became a Master Gardener
through New York Botanical Gardens and started a private landscape designer business, Cynthia Lupo Design Associates. Cynthia was not afraid of a challenge and was always talking about a new kind of art she was going to try, jewelry she was going to make, a new recipe she was going to cook, or what she was planning to plant in her garden. She kept making plans until the end of her life.
Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Jordan, and her granddaughter arriving in March 2025 of Santa Cruz, CA, as well as other extended family members. Cynthia is predeceased by her brother Joseph Kerigan of Wilmington, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at https://ocrahope.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/make-a-donation/

Jordan, am very sorry to learn of your Mom´s passing. I knew her as a member of The Garden Club of Old Greenwich. I always had fun gardening with her.
