Engelbert J. Riith

ENGELBERT J. RIITH - of Greenwich, CT died peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the age of 97. He was born in Port Chester, NY on September 15, 1908 to the late Engelbert and Margaret (Brochart) Riith. He is survived by four daughters, Frances Mathieson and her husband Robert of Signal Mt., TN, Barbara Gleason and her husband James of Greenwich, CT, Karen Landers and her husband Donald of Brookfield, CT, and Kathleen Duffy and her husband John of Stamford, CT, one son, Robert and his wife Patricia of Darien, CT, ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Frances Riith in 1995 and three sisters, Marie Santoro, Catherine Morehouse and Ann Patrie. Engelbert was a sheet metal worker and a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #38 for 81 years. During his tenure he was a foreman on many large construction projects and he ran the sheet metal department for Hauxwell and Smith in Port Chester, NY

for many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Byram for many years. He was a master craftsman and spent many hours in his home shop. He also loved his boat, fishing and doing many jigsaw puzzles. Friends may call on Sunday, January 22, 2006 from 1 to 3 PM and 5 to 7 PM at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 23, 2006 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Byram. Entombment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
