Fred Walker Obituary

FRED DUVAL WALKER SR. - a longtime resident of Greenwich, died on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at Greenwich Hospital. He was 81 years old.

Mr. Walker worked as a Silversmith for Johnson Silver Service in Greenwich and served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1947 in the 126th Infantry Airborne attaining the rank of Private First Class with 8 combat jumps.

He was born on August 6, 1924 in Atlanta, GA to Chesley and Ruby Costley Walker.

On December 4, 1946 he married Angelina Covello in New Milford, CT.

Mr. Walker lived in Greenwich for the past 59 years. Before that he lived in Atlanta, GA, from 1924 to 1942, before enlisting in the service.

Mr. Walker will be remembered for his love of the New York Mets and was an avid reader and a "wiz" at crossword puzzles. His musical tastes ranged from country to classical.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Angelina, daughter Laraine and son-in-law Vince Pascarella of Norwalk, CT, daughter Janet Walker and John Caputo of Greenwich, CT, son Fred Walker and daughter-in-law Patricia of New Haven, CT, grandchildren Jillian and Colin and their spouses, and a great grandchild Noah Butler. He is also survived by his sisters in Atlanta, GA, Frances Barton and Betty Reynolds, several nieces and nephews and his pet cockatiel Bo.

Family members who died earlier include his parents and his brothers, Roscoe and Eugene Walker.

Friends may call from 7-9 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave.,Greenwich, CT. The funeral is 9 AM on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at St. Roch's Church, Greenwich. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich, CT.
