Gerardo Capozza Obituary

GERARDO "GERRY" CAPOZZA, SR., 67 of Greenwich, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on April 21, 2012. He was born in Morra de Sanctis, Italy on May 6, 1944 to the late Rocco and Elsa (DeSanto) Capozza. Gerry came to America in 1961. He first worked as a mechanic for General Motors and in 1971 started his own business as a refuse collector. He expanded into becoming a Landscaper and General Contractor. He was a hard working man who worked day and night in order to support his family. He will be remembered as a devoted family man who always had a jolly, smiling face and was good towards all he met. Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Rosaria (Bonastia) Capozza, his children Alfredo Capozza and his wife Aixa, Rocco Capozza, Elsa Perri and her husband David, Gerardo "Gerry" Capozza Jr. and his wife Jessica, and Michelle Capozza, his siblings Michael Capozza, Maria Sala, Lucy Ball, Ugo Capozza and Connie Hoffman, and his grandchildren Christina Capozza, Brianna Perri, Francesca Capozza, Nicholas Capozza, and Sophia Capozza. He also left behind many nieces and nephews who he loved very much. In addition to his parents, Gerry was predeceased by a sister Josephine Capozza. Family and friends may visit at the Castiglione Funeral Home, Inc., 134 Hamilton Ave. in Greenwich on Monday April 23rd from 4-8PM and on Tuesday April 24th from 4-8PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 25th at 10:00AM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.

We are so very sorry to hear of Gerry Capozza's passing. He was my late father's first cousin, and I have fond memories of seeing him in Italy while we were there visiting my husband's grandparents in Morra. He was clearly beloved by his family and will be missed.
