Gordon, age 84, died peacefully at home on Thursday May 2, 2013, with his wife of 61 years, Eileen, at his side. Gordon was born in Boston Massachusetts and served honorably in the U.S. Army. Upon leaving the service, he graduated from Boston University and later received a degree from Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program. Prior to his retirement, he was the Senior Vice President of Mitsubishi International Corporation. Gordon was an active member of Christ Church Greenwich and was very proud to have worked with the Red Barons at Greenwich Hospital. He was a former Commander of the Greenwich Power Squadron; and a member of the Greenwich Boat and Yacht Club; the Old Greenwich Yacht Club; the Harpoon Club; the Horseneck Club and the Retired Men's Association of Greenwich.
In addition to his wife Eileen, Gordon is survived by his four children, Brian MacDonald and his wife Mary of Riverside; Peter MacDonald and his wife Wendy of Riverside; Keith MacDonald and his wife Janice of Burlington MA; daughter Audrey Wilcox and her husband J.B. of Pittsburgh PA. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; Hilary Lipner (Drew); Emily Anne MacDonald; Andrew MacDonald (Katharine); William MacDonald; Christopher MacDonald (Katrina); Matthew MacDonald (Leah); Catherine Wilcox; Sarah Moore (Garrison); Patrick MacDonald; Benjamin Wilcox; Hannah Wilcox; Kevin MacDonald and Jess MacDonald. One great grandchild Ella MacDonald also survives him.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 11, 2013, at 11:00am at Christ Church 254 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich, CT. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Gordon's name to the Greenwich Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association Greenwich. Commander MacDonald - and Eileen - have done so very much for the United States Power Squadrons over the years. . . our parties won't be the same without Gordon . . . our squadron is not the same without him. We will miss him very much and on a personal basis Mike and I send our deepest sympathy to Eileen and the MacDonald family. We are away so won't be able to come to the ceremony on Saturday.
