Jane Wedemeyer Obituary

Wedemeyer, Jane
After a fierce, courageous fight, Jane Young Wedemeyer lost her long battle with pulmonary fibrosis and pancreatic cancer on December 17, 2015. Jane died peacefully at home at Maple Hill Farm in Redding, CT, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. She was a beautiful person whose warmth, wisdom, and grit were an inspiration, and whose dedication to her family was immense (lovingly known as MOT, mother of the tribe). Despite her illness, she was generous, thoughtful and welcoming to her far-flung extended family. Jane was happily married for 24 years to the late Richard Wedemeyer of Greenwich, CT, who died May 12, 2012, and is survived by her children David Young, Michael Young, Gregory Young, Trevor Wedemeyer, and Laura Wedemeyer Hanson. She was beloved by her large extended family of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many "fourth sons" whom she hosted, protected and guided through the years. Jane's brother Peter Howard of Darien and her parents predeceased her.
Jane was born February 9, 1939 in England, to Adelbert and Hedvig Howard who had the Nazi occupation of their home in Vienna, Austria. The Howards made their home in West Norwalk, CT where Jane was raised surrounded by beautiful music, an influence that became a cornerstone in her life. She became a well-regarded singer, performer, and guitar instructor throughout Fairfield County. Many of Jane's students are still making music and enjoying the wonderful gift Jane provided. Jane was a longtime realtor at William Raveis Realty in Norwalk where she earned numerous awards. She was also active in the West Norwalk Guild and the Roton Point Beach Club. In lieu of flowers, Jane's family requested that contributions be made in her memory to Jane's Music at SpreadMusicNow Fund, PO Box 1330, Redding Center, CT 06875 or www.spreadmusicnow.org/donate-now/ and note that your donation is in memory of Jane Wedemeyer. Interment will be private. A memorial celebration of Jane's life will be held in Spring, 2016. To light a candle or send a condolence in her memory please visit danburymemorial.com.

My condolences to your family. Your Mother sang and played at my husband's funeral, Peter Seely in 1976. She was a beautiful person, with the most wonderful laugh. I am so very sorry.
