Joseph Moscatello Obituary

Joseph Moscatello
Joseph Richard Moscatello, 95, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at his home in Cos Cob, CT.
He was born on January 9, 1922, in Stamford, CT to the late Dominic and Rita Moscatello. He attended Stamford High School. He was 19 years old in 1941, when the attack on Pearl Harbor occurred. Within days, he enlisted in the US Marines, earning the rank of Sergeant. Stationed near Washington D.C. as an elite member of a unit that provided security to President Roosevelt, he was later deployed to the South Pacific, where he was injured in the Battle of Okinawa. After his recovery, he returned to Connecticut, married, and joined Cecio Bros, Inc, where he worked for 35 years. An expert craftsman, Joe purchased land in Cos Cob and built his home there, where he lived for the rest of his days.
Some of Joe's favorite activities included tending his garden, reading, spending time with his favorite dog, Lexi, bird-watching and reminiscing about his service in the Marines. He will be remembered for his strength, resilience, good humor and fondness for Jack Daniels. One of his favorite phrases was, "Take what the good Lord gives you and run with it. If you can't run, walk."
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Carrie in 2009. He is survived by a son, Joseph Moscatello Jr of Cos Cob, CT; his sister Mary Bonis of Trumbull, CT and his brother Raymond Moscatello of Brookfield, CT.
