Mary Whitlock Obituary

MARY R. WHITLOCK, 96, of Cos Cob, passed away on September 24, 2010. She was born in Boomer, West Virginia on July 22, 1914 to the late Archangelo and Giovannina (Pignanelli) Marullo. Mary was predeceased by her husband James Herbert Whitlock. Mary loved living in Cos Cob, and for years her and her late husband ran Whitlock's Grocery on Bible St. She also worked for Homelite as a machinist and then for the Food Mart in Cos Cob for several years. She enjoyed knitting and dancing but above all her family was most important to her. Mary is survived by her daughter Jeanetta Zehalka and her husband John, a daughter Rosalie Frankel and her husband John, a brother Ross Marullo and his wife Virginia, a sister Letizia Santora, her Grandchildren; Christine Sikes, Stephanie Nasser and John Frankel, her Great Grandchildren; Danielle Sikes, Sophia Sikes, Rebecca Nasser, Walker Nasser, Reide Nasser, and Noah James Nasser. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her 3 brothers, Genaro Marullo, Albert Marullo, Sam Marullo and a sister Rose Ruloff. Family and friends may call at the Castiglione Funeral Home, Inc., 134 Hamilton Ave. in Greenwich on Monday September 27th from 6-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday September 28th at 10:00AM at St. Catherine's Church. Internment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: Greenwich Woods Health Care, 1165 King St., Greenwich, CT 06831 or The Alzheimer's Association, 279 New Britain Rd., Kensington, CT 06037.
