Robert Tyndall Wheeler of San Antonio, TX died peacefully at home on June 4, 2013 at the age of 91. His beloved wife Barbara passed away August 11, 2012. Born September 27, 1921 in Mount Vernon, NY, Robert was the son of the late Dorothy York Tyndall Wheeler and Francis Harrison Wheeler of Greenwich, CT. His sister, Carol Wheeler Griffith of Healdsburg, CA and son-in-law, Thomas F. Braun, also predeceased him. Previous to San Antonio, Bob was a longtime resident of Riverside, CT and later Madison, CT. He attended Park College in Kansas City, MO and married Barbara Jean Tilley in 1944. He retired after a long career affiliated with The Travelers Insurance Company, as President and owner of The Wheeler-Blackman Agency in New York City. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed long swims and bicycling. His happiness and kindness had an impact on all who knew him. Bob leaves behind his devoted daughters, Donna Wheeler of Medford, MA, Laurie Wall of Newington, CT, Janine Wheeler of San Antonio, TX, and Pamela Braun of Madison, CT. Also mourning his passing are his five grandchildren, Jessica Claflin (Brendan) of Longmont, CO, Stephanie Fortin (Jonathan) of Hingham, MA, Pamela McCarthy (Matthew) of West Roxbury, MA, Dirk Braun of Aspen, CO, and William Braun, of Madison, CT; great grandchildren, Tucker Fortin and Neve Claflin. The family is grateful to Vitas Hospice for the kindness and care they provided. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
