Santo Groccia Obituary

Santo Groccia
Santo Groccia of Greenwich, CT passed away on December 27, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was 89. Born in Acri, Cosenza, Italy on December 10, 1934 to Vincenzo and Carmela Groccia. He came to America in 1964 with his wife Antonietta. He lived in Riverside, CT until moving to Greenwich, CT in 2018.
He worked at Pitney Bowes in Stamford, CT for 30 years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his nine grandchildren. He loved gardening and landscaping. His last three years he was raising chickens that kept him so happy. He loved family gatherings where he shared his homemade wine and played Scala, his favorite card game, with his family. He was determined to become a USA citizen so that he could vote. He accomplished that goal in 2016.
Santo is the beloved husband of Antonietta Groccia (Ripegno), loving father of Carmella DeVita (Francesco), Donna Fiorito (Vincent) and Leeann Solis (Joseph), cherished grandfather of Anthony DeVita (Spouse, Erica), Stephanie DeVita, Brianna Fiorito, Michael Fiorito, Matthew Fiorito, Thomas Fiorito, Joseph Solis, Daniel Solis and Isabel Solis. He was also a dear brother of Vincenzina Gesualdo and the late Francesco Groccia, Giovani Groccia and Antonio Groccia.
The family was very fortunate to have Dr. James Brunetti, providing excellent care, adding many years to his life. Dr. Brunetti was like the son he never had and words cannot explain how lucky and grateful he was to have him always by his side.
To honor Santo's life, family and friends will gather on Tuesday January 2, 2024 from 4-8pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME 134 Hamilton Ave. Greenwich, CT 06830. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Wednesday January 3, 2024 at St. Roch's Church. Followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.
