Toni Katherine Ketterer Frey
Toni Katherine Ketterer Frey of Hong Kong, Greenwich and Norwalk, Connecticut passed away on May 12 after a prolonged illness. Born August 4, 1956 in New York City to Robert J. Ketterer and Mary Hotung Ketterer and was raised in Hong Kong. Toni graduated from Hong Kong International School in 1974 and attended Briarcliff College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Arts and Cartography in 1978.
After graduation, she worked and consulted as a freelance production artist for a multitude of brands at General Foods, Playtex International and Unilever. Toni lived for many years in Cos Cob, Connecticut and provided a loving U.S. home base for her five younger siblings as they came from Hong Kong to the US for their education.
Toni loved reading, gardening and being out on the ocean scuba diving or paddling around in her kayak. She loved the arts and had a deep appreciation for nature. She saw beauty in everything and everyone.
She is survived by her loving partner James Akoury, and her dear son Kristofer Frey and his father Kenneth Frey, her devoted parents Robert J. Ketterer and Mary Hotung Ketterer of the Philippines and Portugal, her brothers Edward Ketterer of Hong Kong, Joseph Ketterer of Los Angeles, California, Mark Ketterer of Melbourne, Australia, Robert P. Ketterer of Los Angeles, California, and her sister Karen Ketterer and her brother-in-law Paul Gaynor of Dover, Massachusetts. She is much loved by her Uncles Eric Hotung CBE, and Sir Joseph Hotung KBE, her Aunt Antonia Hotung and Aunt Mary McGinley and her Aunt Jane and Uncle John Nielsen, sister-in-law Marion Percy, Jim's family Lisa, John, Emily and Matthew Nicastro, and John Akoury and Heather Hanson, her cousins Susan, Michael, John III, and Kathleen Nielsen, and Michael, Eric, Sean, Tony, Mara, Gabrielle, Sheridan Hotung, and Joseph, Patrick, Ann and Ellen Hotung and her adoring nieces and nephews Leni, Katie, Max, Will, Haley, Lauren, Tristan, Sam, Ben and Jack.
Predeceased by cousin Robert Hotung and Aunt Patricia Hotung, and her grandparents Edward and Mordia Hotung and Joseph and Margaret Ketterer.
Visiting hours at the Fred D. Knapp and Son Funeral Home at 267 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, Connecticut from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 18 at St. Mary Church at 178 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, Connecticut.

I viewed her beautiful face when I opened mail......my feelings got warm and emotional.....gone too early and missed by all who knew and loved her I am certain. She passed through this life too quickly; had a specially warm and knowing spirit...... she now is in the heavenly place ..we will meet again. Toni had special love all around her ....GOD BLESSINGS TONI......GOD bless you JIM, son , and the family I never met I can only imagine how much you miss her. As her neighbor at Dorlon Terrace she was so very lovely and kindly gentle. Hard to believe it has been
2 years she is gone.

I remember many of times at HKIS ,especially 9th and 10 th grade. I had such a crazy crush on you ! You're Mom and My mom were the only ones who knew. You probably knew too as all I could do was bumble whenever I got near you. As the years went by I searched without success in hopes of saying Hello again. Now as I read of you're Mom's passing coupled with My Mothers passing, you're old french teacher, my heart is so heavy with sadness its difilcult to bear. Hopefully, we shall all meet again in Heaven

Toni was my best friend when I was 11 - 12 years old. We shared the secrets of young girls leaving childhood but not yet reaching adulthood. Dear Chris & Jim, I am so sorry to learn of Toni's passing. I used to work with Toni at Unilever in the Creative Services Dept. When our children were small we went to see Disney on Ice and so many other events. She was always upbeat and a caring woman.
