Vera Hershey Obituary

Vera Yacubik Hershey
Vera Yacubik Hershey of Stamford, CT passed away on February 14, 2025 in Silver Spring, MD. She was 98 years old.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, Alfred and Helen Krupica Yacubik, her sister Dorothy Y. Slusarz Burochonock, and her husband Joseph J. Hershey who she married in 1960.
Vera was born June 1, 1926 in Mount Kisco, NY. She spent her early years in Banksville, NY before moving with her family to Port Chester, NY where she graduated from Port Chester High School in 1944. She then began a long career with Port Chester Savings Bank, which became Village Savings Bank, starting as a teller and retiring as an officer and branch manager.
Vera lived for most her life in Stamford, including at Atria Stamford for several years.
Survivors include niece Laurie Checco (husband Larry Checco) of Silver Spring, MD, and nephew Jeffrey Slusarz (wife Elizabeth Slusarz) of Walnut Creek, CA.
Additional survivors include grandnieces Brenda Buggisch, Lynne LoRusso and Elise Slusarz, and grandnephews Brian Checco, Peter Checco and Joseph Slusarz, and several great-grandnieces and -grandnephews.
A private burial will take place at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY.

I became friends with Vera when she lived at Atria and I was working there with another resident. I always enjoyed our talks. She always remembered me and would stop to say hello! God bless you Vera. See you again soon.!
