Matthew Morris Obituary

Matthew Christopher Morris, lovingly known as Matt or Cooter, passed away unexpectedly on November 29, 2022, at the age of 38. Matt was born on October 14, 1984, in Oroville, CA, to Larry and Joyce Morris. He grew up in Gridley, CA, with his two older siblings, Holly and Rob. Matt's love for trucks started at a young age; growing up you would always find him working on them and hanging out with his Uncle Max and Pepa.
After graduation, Matt decided to chase his dream and became a truck driver. Little did he know that chasing his dream would lead him to find the love of his life and soul mate, Jessie. They were inseparable from day one and were married on May 16, 2009. They immediately began to grow their family and welcomed their first-born, Baylee, followed by Izzy 3 short years later, to complete their family. Matt was the most loving and devoted father and husband; doing absolutely anything for "his girls." He loved riding quads with Baylee; and having Izzy as his co-pilot in the truck every chance he got, passing on that love of trucking to her. Matt cherished his girls and everything he did was for them.
Matt is survived by his wife, Jessie, and daughters Baylee and Izzy of Willows; his parents, Joyce and Larry Morris of Gridley; brother, Rob Morris of Missouri; sister, Holly Morris of Kansas; his in-laws, Tom and Lanora Phelps of Willows; numerous nieces and nephews and, of course, Uncle Max Walters of Biggs.
There will be a celebration of life to honor Matt on December 10, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Willows, CA. The Celebration will be catered by one of Matt's favorite Mexican restaurants, but if you would like to bring something, a dessert is more than welcome.
