Hello Abramo Family. My name is Dan McCartney, and I live in Toledo, Ohio. I graduated from St Joseph´s Grade School in Maumee, Ohio, in1978, and had a warm friendship with a pal named Frank Abramo. He was only at St Joe´s for a few years, but we enjoyed each other´s companionship and shared many a laugh. He came over to our farm several times and I recall fun frolics with him in the woods and stream. I have thought of him often over the decades, and just searched for him now on the internet. We are the same age. Might this be the same Frank Abramo who would have lived in the Toledo, Ohio area in the 70´s? Either way, my very late condolences and I hope my inquiry has not caused you any pain. Gratefully, Dan McCartney, Toledo

Mrs. Abramo,
I recently learned of Frank's passing when I obtained a copy of the Gilbert School newsletter. MY deepest sympathy to you and your children. I remember when Frank first arrived at the Gilbert School in the fall of 1980, and we became friends right away. He had a great sense of humor, and always had us laughing. The last time I saw Frank was nearly 9 years ago when I was at the Log House Restaurant with my son, and we just started talking as if we had been apart for only a few minutes, even though I had not seen him since our graduation 23 years earlier. Frank was a wonderful and caring guy, and I am quite certain he is watching over all of you with a smile. Rest in peace, Frank. You were the best. - Dr. Patrick Higgins, Gilbert School Class of 1982.

I just now found out about Frank's passing. I'm so sorry to hear that he lost his battle, and I feel even worse that I was never able to tell him goodbye, or to attend his services. I will always cherish the time I knew him, and spent with him cooking at the LH. His loud, boisterous (sometimes obnoxious) personality was one of his best attributes. He could always make those around him happy and smiling. I also lost my father to cancer (Pancreatic Cancer) in the year 2000, so it hits close to home with me... I always kind of looked up to Frank as a mentor, if not in a way, a father figure- whether he realized it or not. He is no longer suffering or in pain, and I know he's up in heaven looking down on you and his family. Earth could never contain someone like Frank anyway...

If you didn't know My friend, you missed out on having someone in you're life that would put a smile on you're face. It didn't matter if he was going through hard times, he would always leave you with great memories, with happy reflections of the good times he already blessed you with. Simply by being in his company. He would be the light within any darkness that surrounded you at that time. Overcoming all of you're deepest sorrow. With Frank it was about him making you laugh and feel better, so unselfish wether he knew it or not. He put more smiles on peoples faces than anyone I know. That's why I will never forget him, and I feel so much sorrow for his loved ones that lost such a wonderful person,,,, such as my friend.

I always had a great relationship with Frank. His sense of humor, well you had to know him to understand it. I used to take my family to the log house for breakfast when he was the link cook. I would tell a waitress how bad the food was and to please send out the chef. He would come out and say "if you don't like it you can, always go to the Winsted diner!!" To which I would reply how much better their food was anyways. Then he'd start laughing and so, would I. People around us were like wth.
The laughs we had when we worked together, this dude was the best.
It's been about 2 years since I seen Frank and I am gonna miss ya buddy. I have Great great memories of you that can never be duplicated. thank you Frank for sharing a piece of your life with me.
