When I came to Guam in 1967 John Gerber was my first friend, he took me into his family and I took him into mine. I could write a full length novel and still not cover all of the experiences John and I had together. I am deeply sorry to have lost my brother and my best friend, I will miss you John.

John Gerber, it was a blessing to have met you and a true honor to have had the opprotunity to speak with you when I visited Guam twice last year. A true man who lived and breathed Marine Corps, and dedicated himself to everything he had worked so hard on, you will be missed. You are a true role model for all who have had the opprotunity to have made your acquaintance. Semper Fidelis.

Mel, Joyce, Wanda, Debra, Janet & Martin. We are forever grateful that we have had the privilege of living and growing up within your Ordot property. Such a loving provision from your parents Uncle Martin and Auntie Lolie to my parents, Silvero & Juana. Those were the happiest childhood days. Condolences.

Uncle John,
My family went to the War Museum on a Sunday, we knocked on the door, you answered and said, sorry, we are closed. My 5-year old son said, "are you really closed?" You said, no, come on in, I hate to see you about to cry. You showed him everything in the museum. The biggest impact is you let him stand in the War Tank. Up to this day, my Son Brye, relates his tank experience to friends and relatives. Dunkulo na Si Yuus Maase.

Having the privilege of associating with John at an earlier age back in the early 70's when he was a disc jockey for KUAM, he was a great mentor.
Meeting again an old Friend since enlisting in the U. S Navy in 1975 at his Marine Museum in Mai'na was a blessing.
BRO, you are an inspiration through my Adult Live. My prayers to you and the Family.

When John visited Honolulu in 2002 or 2003, he called me. I was living in Hawaii at the time. I assisted him in connecting with Peaches Story who lived in Kailua. John was a 69 grad of FDMS and I was 68. He served in the USMC and I was drafted into the Army. Of course we are related through the Pangelinan.
John and I were always on opposite sides but we were always civil, cordial and always friendly. We had that mutual respect which I so dearly admired.
I was on Guahan last month but left before his passing. My sincerest warm thoughts and prayers to the family.

Gerb had been on air for 8-9 years with Wireless Rock before I launched the J.Q. Fanihi Show.
He owned the youth market in those days and his influence spread far and wide, including many people who grew up to be island leaders in every sector of business and government.
Many small towns throughout America had disk jockeys who were part rock and roller and part Pied Piper. Johnny was ours. Young folks loved him and followed. A talented performer, he also had a keen street sense of how things worked and what was right.
As many here have written, he was a good guy. If he knew you needed something, he would try to help.
With his radio work, museum project, and effort to get Guam's main road a name change to Marine Corps Drive, his place in Guam's history is secure; and he remains in the hearts of those who were fans and friends.
Condolences to his family.

I remember John back in the 70's and I love to listen to "Wireless Rock" radio station and I always thought he was one of the best dejay. Became friends with him moreso in '76 and we would visit him at the radio station when he's on live and in action. He is so funny and loves to tell stories and full of energy and I can just picture him and his laughter. I just love his laughter. Well John, those were the good ole days with fond memories. Martin, Debbie, Janet, Ryan and the entire Gerber Family, we are sadden by John's sudden departure. Next to listening to the Armed Forces radio, I could barely wait to listen to John's weekend show as a DJ. He help ease my culture shock and made my return to the island less painful as a teen by enjoying his creative character and music play list. John's presence will be truly missed along with the sound of his laughter and he will never be forgotten. John is in good company in heaven with family and friends for sure; John has touched the lives of so many and we are grateful for his community contributions in his own simple way. May you all find comfort and joy in your fond memories of your beloved brother, father and friend.
Thank you John "Chabado" for sharing the picture of you guys in Babulao doing what you and the late John Gerber enjoyed together recovering historical relics in the jungles of "home" and just being in your own element.
Love and prayers, Chris, T.Ann and familia

Rest in Peace cousin John,
I remember growing up looking at John as a mentor and another older brother. I also remember when he returned from Vietnam safely. He inspired me to join the military and today, retired after 26 years in the US Army, I can say he was part of that success. There are many memories in Ordot with my Gerber cousins. To my cousins, be strong because brother have made a difference to many lives around him. To his wife (Mel) and his children, we all know he left too early and it may be god's faith, but look at the work he has done to inspire many people and veterans. He stood up for their purpose and that purpose will forever bare his name. God Bless all the familia and friends of John.

Wireless Rock back in the good 'ole days was good, clean, fun music not only because "JG" really rocked but moreso because our parents allowed us to listen to him. John was my friend. I could trust him. No matter what, he was always on my side.
He told great stories. He liked to talk. He had more energy than ten men his age.
His ego was deflated one day when a good looking young woman told him that her Mom said he was a cute disc jockey " a long time ago." I will always remember how he laughed.

John & I are in the same homeroom when he first transfer from Father Duenas School to GWSHS & also in the CLASS of 1969. John is a true friend to these that had the privilege. He is very kind yet very determine.
I remember taking the AFQT together to join the Corp which we both passed, but I score lower that will not allow us to be on a buddy system so I went into the US Army instead. John lend my his chop off black primier 1957 Chevy for my get away car couple time when I ditch class.
