1964 at Fort Bragee
Dick & Barbara Hills
October 15, 2016
I was at Fort Bragg in Charlie Company of the 92nd Engineers in 1964-65. Lt. Tenorio was in the same company at the same time. My wife, Barbara, and Juan and his wife Charlene, became friends in the short while we served together. We are the God Parents of their daughter, Tico. I was just thumbing through some photos of them and in checking the internet, I learned that Juan has gone home to the Father. We will see him one day soon.

May the God of all comfort grant you the peace you may need during this challenging time. God has said at Isaiah 51:12,"I myself am the One comforting you."

My condolences to the family. I will always miss the island of Guam...the thing I miss the most is the people and Col Tenorio exemplified what made me fall in love with the island. It was a honor to have the privilege of knowing and working with him while I was on the island. He was always considerate and in all my dealings with him a man of honor. He made a positive impact on the island and those who knew him. He will be missed but he left his beloved Guam and our Country a better place because of his efforts on behalf of Guam and our Nation. I am sure we will meet again and thanks Colonel - you made a positive impact on my life.

Mr T as we fondly called him at the Guam PEALS Board (Professional Engineers, Architecs and Land Surveyors Board) was an outstanding Chairman and Member Engineer. His tremendous contributions to the engineering, architecture and land surveying profession made the Board what it is today. Mr T was a true professional and a gentleman. My husband Edward and I will surely miss him. We will forever be grateful.

Charlene and Family,
Please accept my most heartfelt condolences on the untimely death of your husband, father, grandfather and my friend, Juan. As you know, Juan and I and our many friends in the Guam U.S. Army Reserve, helped to start and expand it to the current size. Additionally, he was an excellent Professional Engineer and has worked on many projects on both Guam and the Northern Marianas Islands. I know I, along with many of our fellow soldiers and your family, will miss him. May he rest in peace with our Lord and Creator and may He assuage your sorrow during this period of mourning.

My condolences to the family of the late Juan Tenorio. I served with him when we started the first paid-drill Army Reserve unit on Guam, Company D, 411 Engineers. He was the commander and I was his first sergeant. It was an honor to serve with Juan. Within a couple of months of the inception of the unit Juan took 110 soldiers to Korea for two weeks active duty, with NO other commissioned officers (normally there would have been four or five lieutenants). I believe the success of Co. D under Juan, and later commanders, is the primary reason there are so many reserve and national guard units on the island. In addition to his successful military and business careers, Juan served on school boards, and was, in general an outstanding person. He will be missed.

Charlene and family, my sincere condolences on loss of Juan, a leader and great contributor to our community. As his legacy he has left not only his descendants, but also his many engineering accomplishments (including pro bono work done for the GGARP senior center expansion and helping obtain the Hagatna fishing platform permit, and the growth and improvements he brought to the US Army Reserve and to the Guam Community College. I am proud to have served as an Engineer Officer under Colonel Tenorio and to call him among my good friends for over four decades.
