Charles Temple Watson

Mr. Charles Temple Watson, 79 of Port St. Joe, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at his home surrounded by his friends and family. Born on July 22, 1942, in Laurel, MS, Temple was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Helene Watson, and his brother Mac. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sharon Watson; daughter, Melissa; son, Chuck (wife Danielle), grandchildren, Brodie and Dylan; sister-in-law, Sara Watson; and nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

Upon graduation from the University of Montevallo in 1964, Temple relocated to Port St. Joe, where he began his professional career at Port St. Joe High School as a history teacher. He later transitioned to a career with the Gulf County School Board as the Administrative Assistant to Superintendent of Schools where he worked until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed playing tennis, playing golf, doing genealogy research, and watching Alabama football. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe, serving as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, leader of the Royal Ambassadors, and various committees over the years including most recently the Rebuild and Recovery Team of FBC following Hurricane Michael. He also served as a Gideon from 1989 until his passing.

A Celebration of Temple's life was held at 11:00 a.m. EST, Friday, October 1, 2021, at Holly Hill Cemetery, Old Niles Tramroad, Port St. Joe. Interment followed.
