VeDora "Shottie" Wilson 1929 – 2021

Jessie VeDora Clements Wilson went to her heavenly home on October 17, 2021, to reap the glory and rewards of her life of faithful Christian service. "Shottie," as she was affectionately known, was born in Cordele, Georgia to Jesse and Minnie Mertie Clements. The family moved to Bay County when she was four, where she graduated from Bay High School and married James T. Wilson, Jr. in 1946. In 1950 the young couple moved to Port St. Joe and raised three children who were blessed with the most wonderful parents in the world. Shottie and James were active members of First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe, and on behalf of First Baptist they helped establish the Beach Baptist Chapel mission church. Of her many areas of service, Shottie's most enduring and beloved assignment was as teacher of the Bethany Sunday School Class for two decades.

Shottie created and sustained a loving and nurturing home for her family, always grounded in her Christian values and devotion. She was creative, kind, generous, and beautiful inside and out. She radiated love and was loved by everyone whose lives she touched.

Shottie was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Wilson; parents; brother, LeRoy Clements; and sister, Millie Freeman. She is survived by her children, Pamela Boede, Cynthia Summers (Eddie), Joseph Wilson (Aileen); four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held on October 21, 2021 at Long Avenue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to contribute to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe (fbcpsj.org), or to donate Gideon Bibles in her memory.
