CARL INGWALSON Obituary

CARL F. INGWALSON, born in Mankato, Minn., on Sept. 18, 1914, died in Tucson on June 5, 2012. He is survived by sons Carl Jr., San Diego, Calif., and Jared Ingwalson, Littleton, Colo., their wives, Wilma and Brenda, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Carl graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Purdue University in 1937, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta and Chi Epsilon honor society. He built a career with National Tube Co. and Dravo Corp., and retired from Rieth-Riley Construction Co. in 1985. During World War II, he was assigned by the U.S. Navy to supervise construction of LSTs at the Wilmington, Del., shipyard.

In 1940 he married Julia Bliss in Columbus, Ohio, a marriage of 43 wonderful years. Julia died in 1983. In 1985 he married Marian Cappel in Elkhart, Ind., and they enjoyed 23 happy years together until her death in 2008.

In 1980, he began wintering in Green Valley, where he was an avid golfer and an accomplished wood and jewelry craftsman. He enjoyed many trips abroad, the Arizona sunshine and his many friends.

Always a gentleman, Carl had a keen sense of humor and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.
