Thomas Guier Obituary
December 8, 1934 - December 12, 2024
Thomas (Jeff) Guier was born on December 8, 1934 - son of Thomas Mauck Guier and Hazel Burns Guier of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Jeff graduated from Central Catholic High School and attended the University of Pittsburg, Johnstown Center and graduated from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in the College of Commerce and Administration. He was a member of Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and active in YMCA and Junior Chamber of Commerce where he held the office of President, Evansville, Indiana. In 1966 he was listed in "Outstanding Young Men of America" by the Jaycees for young men who had distinguished themselves in one or more fields of endeavor to the point of being outstanding.
Jeff moved to Green Valley in 2001 after a busy radio broadcasting career in Honolulu, Hawaii; Sacramento, California; Akron, Ohio; Boise, Idaho; Lake Tahoe, California; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Salem, Oregon; San Diego, California; and Green Valley, Arizona. After retiring from radio he was associated with Marriott Corporation and Dunn Hospitality Group in Evansville, Indiana where he managed a Fairfield Inn by Marriott for seven years. He continued his radio career in Green Valley part time at Green Valley radio station KGVY and volunteered as a pool monitor at the West Center Pool.
Jeff's family includes his wife of 55 years Suzanne Jette Guier, his parents Thomas and Hazel Guier, Johnstown, Pennsylvania plus his sisters Anne Ickes, Kay Mapes, Lois Smith, and Alice Adams. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and godchildren.
He was a member of the Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He will be greatly missed by those his life touched. Services will be announced at a later date.
