KATE TUMLIN Obituary

Kate Martin Tumlin, age 93, of Lawrenceville, GA formerly of Cornelia, GA entered into rest on September 27, 2010. She is survived by six children; Gladys T. Wallace of Lawrenceville, GA, Elizabeth Hall of Loganville, GA, J.E. Tumlin of Alto, GA, Raymond Tumlin of Auburn, GA, Wayne Tumlin of Blue Ridge, GA, and John Tumlin of Cornelia, GA; 32 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren, 52 great great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Ezra Tumlin, two daughters, Shirley K. Shirley and Lelarbell Sanders; three brothers, Edward, Warren, and Junior; four sisters, Cephas Lee, Bell, Pauline and Betty Jo. Mrs. Tumlin was born in Snellville, Georgia on March 31, 1917 to Lena Bell Ledbetter Martin and Joseph Cephas Martin. She was known as the "Matriarch" of the Tumlin family. She loved going fishing, working in the garden, canning & drying fruit, and was an excellent seamstress who could look at a dress in the store and make her own pattern out of newspaper. She even did her own upholstery work and one time worked on a car engine getting it to run and had a few parts left over. She is going to be greatly missed by all of her loving, adoring family The Service Celebrating the Life of Kate M. Tumlin will be held Thursday, September 30, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Dr. Don Richards and Rev. Fred Bedingfield officiating. Interment Corinth Cemetery, Stone Mountain, GA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from Noon to 3:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted.
