Lillian Knudsen Obituary

Lil Knudsen, age 78, of Lilburn, GA, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed into the presence of Jesus on June 30, 2008 following her fourth courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Herb, son and daughter-in-law Dan and Paige Knudsen of Lilburn, GA, son and daughter-in-law Ken and Cynthia Knudsen of Florence, SC, daughter Janet Goebel of Arizona City, AZ, and six grandchildren. Born in Teaneck, NJ, she graduated from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls, MN and then attended the Norwegian Hospital in Brooklyn, NY from which she graduated with her nursing degree. Lil worked as a registered nurse for three years before staying home for 22 years to raise her three children. After moving to South Carolina, she completed her career by working for 15 years in the Pediatric Department of Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, SC. Lil has called Lilburn home since retiring here 14 years ago. A memorial service will be held on Thursday July 3, 2008 at Grace Fellowship Church, 1400 Dogwood Rd., Snellville, GA at 10 AM with a reception following at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of Grace Fellowship Church at the above address or to Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, 610 Hillcrest Dr., Fergus Falls, MN, 56537 in her memory. Mr. Knudsen - I was sorry to hear about the passing of your wife. My wife and I are thinking of you and your family at this time. Rest in the comfort that she is no longer suffering and that she has been made whole again. My wife and I are friends of Ken and Cynthia and have enjoyed getting to know them over the years. You and your wife raised a wonderful Christian son in Ken. Please know that we are praying for you and your family during this time. Matthew 11:28-30

Dear Herb and family,

I am so sad to hear of Lil's passing, but am grateful that another precious sister is with the Lord. I loved her as my mentor in the early days of my involvement with pro-life activism, and I admired her courage. There are many children alive today because she was willing to coach their distraught mothers to choose life for their babies. Thank you, also, Herb, for giving her the freedom to use her gifts for His glory so many times.

I was so sorry to hear of Mrs. Knudsen death. Janet called me yesterday. I never had the change to meet her, but know her daughter, Janet well. I know she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to all of you. I know how much Janet loved her mother and family.
I have you in my prayers and will think about you daily.
with all my love and sympathy,
Vickie Harwood
