Robert Madden Obituary
Robert Herman Madden, 58, of Madden Road, Bowdon, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Crawford Long Hospital, as a result of a fall on April 22, 2007, from the roof of the barn he was building on the family farm. Robert was born Dec. 13, 1948, in Hogansville, the son of Herman and Lillian Kerce Madden. He was a brickmason and the owner of West Georgia Masonry Contractors. Robert's reputation as a mason is widely known in the construction industry. He has done the masonry work on many schools and commercial buildings in and around Carroll County. Some of those include: Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel, First Georgia Bank and Operations Center, Carrollton Middle School, Carrollton High Band Room, Trojan Fieldhouse, Trinity Baptist Church, Carroll EMC, Bay Springs Middle School, and Bowdon High School renovation project. Robert was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Madden on Oct. 11, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his father, Herman Madden, father-in-law, Marvin Adams, sister, Kathy Swofford and brothers-in-law, Wayne Adams, Steve Momon, and Billy Buchanan, nephews Michael Akin and David McGuire. He is survived by his wife of forty years, JoAnn Adams Madden, to whom he was married on Sept. 3, 1966. Robert's three children include his son, Jeffrey Madden, daughters and sons-in-law, Angie & Steve Rogers all from Bowdon and Jill & Dan Kent from Lawrenceville, his mother, Lillian Madden, mother-in-law, Corine Adams and grandchildren, Jonathan Cook, Harrison Rogers, Maddie Rogers, Will Young, Amos Young all from Bowdon, Amanda Kent & Lexi Kent from Lawrenceville. Robert was a very loving husband, father, pawpaw, son, brother, and friend. He was one of eight children and is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth & Curtis Robinson, Carolyn Buchanan, Judy and Harold Lovvorn, Gale Fauscett, Rick & Cheryl Madden, Curtis Swofford, and David Madden. His extended family includes brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Keith & Patricia Adams, Judy Adams, Marvena Bartlett, Glenda Adams and Patricia Momon. Other family friends include Terry Bartlett, Larry Akin, Jimmy McGuire, and Robert Johnson. Funeral services will be Friday at 4:00 at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Joel McLeroy, Rev. Mark Curlee & Rev. Rick Madden officiating. The family will receive friends at the Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel in Carrollton, GA, from 4:00 to 9:00 pm Thursday and from 12:00 to 3:00 pm Friday. Friends serving as pallbearers will be: Phillip Robinson, Tommy Ralston, Jarrett Ralston, David Pate, Lynn Joyner, Lance Adams, Joey Adams, & Ediyobany Garcia. Robert's nephews will be honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Indian Creek Church Cemetery in Bowdon. Family and friends may gather at Robert's barn after the funeral service on Friday as a tribute of love to Robert and to admire the work he had enjoyed.
