James A. (Jim) McElhaney, 65, of Huntington, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Jim was born on Dec. 4, 1956, in Huntington, to Fred and Patricia Ann (Farley) McElhaney. His parents preceded him in death. Jim married Tena M. Stephan on July 8, 1978, in Huntington, and survives and resides in Huntington.
Jim was a 1975 graduate of Huntington North High School and attended Ivy Tech. He retired as a "maintenance specialist" at Square D in Huntington. Jim was a former member of the Jaycee's and 4x4 Club.
Along with his wife, Tena, Jim is survived by two sons, Scott McElhaney, Huntington, IN, Keith (Haley) McElhaney, Fort Wayne, IN; three brothers, Ted (Janet) McElhaney, Huntington, IN; Mark (Dianne) McElhaney, Benson, AZ; and David (Vicki) McElhaney, Huntington, IN.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Lisa Mitchell.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 4-7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart/Deal Rice Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington.
Additional calling hours will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18 from 9-10 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Service at McElhaney-Hart/Deal Rice Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington.
Burial will be in Gardens of Hope Cemetery, Marion.
In lieu of flowers preferred memorials to the American Diabetes Association in care of McElhaney-Hart/Deal Rice Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.
The family would like to encourage transplants and for individuals to be on a donor list.

My deepest condolences to the family. Jim was a friend of mine from way back. Lost touch when I moved away, but was never forgotten. Will miss him greatly! He was a good man. May you all be blessed for being part of his life. So sorry you had to lose him at a young age!
