I will never forget Al. He was a true friend to MU students. If one of the students that I was advising student one needed one more course to graduate or wanted to waive a course, Al would get the course waived. He had a lot of power and would pull strings so that students could graduate. This was old Miami and does not happen today.

On behalf of my father, James R. Showkeir, I want to express condolences to the family. Al and dad were great friends for over 40 years. They enjoyed each others company and had deep mutual respect personally and professionally. Al is missed by all who knew him. I, too, was very fond of Al and through dad got to know him well. He was a fine man. May he rest in peace.

Al will be truly missed, we made many golf trips to SC and Mi. He was my roommate, after we lost John Mayer, and always seemed to protect me from Bob Sherman, ha! ha! He was a special friend,as he was to many, have missed him at McDonalds for coffee. may his legacy last forever
