Bert JONES Obituary


News Death Notice

JONES, Bert H. age 88 of Fairfield passed away Saturday February 2, 2013 at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. He was born February 11, 1924 in Robbins, Tennessee the son of the late Luther and Helena (Sanders) Jones. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during World War II. On September 4, 1946 in Rossville, Georgia he married Burnice Phillips. Mr. Jones was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church and worked for General Motors for 34 years, retiring in 1987. He is survived by his wife Burnice Jones; one son Steve Jones of Fairfield; three daughters Sharyn (Paul) Sprague of Hamilton, Joy Halcomb of Somerset, Kentucky, and Tari (Ron) Smith of Eaton; eight grandchildren Susanne (Brian) Russell, Kenneth (Patty) Cash, Donald (Angela) Cash, Melissa Halcomb, Shelley (Alvin) Brock, Derrick Halcomb, Heather (Greg) Richmond, and Josh Jones; six great grandchildren Collin, Sibella, Andrew, Dylan, Jacob, and Carter; two brothers James Jones of Kentucky and Bill Jones of Springdale, and one sister Faye Brookover of Springdale. Mr. Jones was also preceded in death by his son Gary Jones, four brothers Frank, Johnny, Euliss, and Luther Jones, and one sister Area McDonald. Visitation at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4 Fairfield on Wednesday February 6, 2013 from 12:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Barry Wilson, officiating. Burial to follow with full military honors in Rose Hill Burial Park. www.websterfuneralhomes.com

Burnice and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow. Bert was a wonderful person. I remember spending many Saturday nights in your home playing board games. I love you all very much.
