News Death Notice
SENS, Daniel (Dan) Charles 48, of Oxford, Ohio, passed away suddenly on December 23rd at his home. Catholic Mass Service for Daniel Charles Sens will be held at St. Mary's Church in Oxford, Ohio on Tuesday, December 30th, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Father Jeffrey Silver, Pastor of St. Mary's Church officiating. Immediately following Mass, a reception will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center. Burial will be private at the Darrtown Cemetery in Darrtown, Ohio. Visitation will be held at 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, Ohio on Monday, December 29th, 2014 from 4 P.M.-7 P.M. Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements. Daniel Charles Sens was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Bernard and Carole Sens on September 27th, 1966. Dan is survived by his parents Bernard and Carole Sens; his wife Thyra Sens, children Haley Arlinghaus (Michael Arlinghaus), Dana Greene (John Greene), and Zach Sens; his 3 grandchildren Mac Arlinghaus, Tucker and Ruby Greene; his 6 brothers, Dennis M. Sens, Kenneth J. Sens, John C. Sens, Thomas F. Sens, Richard S. Sens, and David C. Sens (Dan's twin brother); his 2 sisters, Denise M. Sens and Marie C. (Sens) Taylor; his 8 nieces, Kari Hammonds, Valerie Sens- Schrick, Allison Cavano, Abbey Lewis, Lyndsey Cole, Stephanie Sens, Rachel Taylor, Katie Taylor, Megan Sens, Elaine Sens, and 6 nephews, Christopher Sens, Nick McWhorter, Andrew Sens, Austin Sens, Ricky Sens and Eric Sens; and numerous relatives and friends. Dan went to Talawanda high school and graduated in 1985. He worked for himself as a general contractor at "D.C. Sens Construction," serving the Oxford area. Dan loved sports, in particular hockey. His passion for coaching touched many players/ teams, especially those involved in the Butler County Youth Hockey Program and Miami University's Women's Club Ice Hockey Program. He was a loving husband, father, and "Poppi" to our family and will be dearly missed. In lieu of sending flowers, The Sens Family will be establishing a scholarship in Dan's name at Talawanda High School for ice hockey players; information about donating to the fund will be available soon. Our family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Oxford Community, Dan's friends in the construction community, his friends in the ice hockey community and all the people who touched his life. I had not seen Dan in years but remember coaching him on Talawanda's hockey team. I remember his tireless work ethic and great attitude. A great outgoing personality who liked to have fun while working hard to achieve success. I like to think he passed on some of what he learned from me to the players he coached. He will be missed.

We came to know Dan only recently, through his involvement with the Miami Women's Hockey team. His gentle demeanor and quick smile made him incredibly easy to like. Although it was only for a short time, we're so glad Dan entered our lives.
We hope Dan's family can find some comfort in knowing he touched so many lives in such a positive way. He was definitely one of the good guys.

I have known Dan since what used to be called Jr High days. He was close friends with my nephew and came to my parents place to camp out with several other boys. Dan and David were always so sweet and would come up and talk to us more so than most of the other boys. Dan was always smiling and adorable. which brings me to another memory. He had friends that rented a house together in Darrtown and he would drive around in that big, blue convertable "boat" with the top down, sunglasses on and flashing that smile. It was then that Thyra first saw him. Love at first sight really does happen. I was there to witness it. Rest in peace, my friend. You will be missed.
