Family-Placed Obituary


SHERA, Donna Jay Shera, Donna Jay, age 50, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday morning at her residence. She was born in Middletown, April 15, 1957, a daughter of Donald and Betty Jay. She worked at the Franklin Family Clinic for 10 years, and was formerly the Activities Director for Middletown Senior Citizens. Donna loved to read, to travel, her pets, her friends, and anything to do with medicine and healing. She was a marvelous cook, and a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. She is survived by her husband, Thomas W. Shera; her mother, Betty Radel of Middletown; a sister, Betty (Earl) Blakley of Kannapolis, North Carolina; 2 brothers, John Jay of Middletown, and Jeff Jay; 2 stepdaughters, Amanda (Kris) Zehring, and Abigail (Mike) Cobb; 2 grandchildren, Mackenzie and Madilynn; father-in-law William Shera; numerous cousins; and special friends Gaile Runge, Debbie Clements, Narcissa Capone, Beth McGuire, Pam Breeze,and Dave Shotwell. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald C. Jay; stepfather Harry C. Radel; mother-in-law Marjorie Shera; and brother-in-law Daniel Shera. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Hospice of Middletown and staff members Barb, Kathy, Bill and Melissa; and to Dr. Albert Malcolm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 7, at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, officiated by Chaplain Raul Concha. Friends may call from 12 noon till service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodhill Cemetery in Franklin. The family suggests memorial contributions to PAWS, or to Hospice of Middletown. Condolences may be sent to the family via our website, [email protected].
