I will always remember Ed as the quiet boy studying his Saxon math, while Colin and AJ learned French together in our first year homeschooling. In that tiny apartment, Diane and I connected and began an enduring friendship that continued for us and our sons despite distance and different paths. Many years and many memories later, those friendships remain strong. Ed always seemed wise beyond his years; kind and thoughtful despite experiences that would harden many. Though Ed struggled over the years, his inner light continued to shine. Our hearts are heavy with sorrow for our dear friends Diane, Peter, and AJ, and for all who loved Ed. We will never forget him.

Diane,

While I never met Eddie, he did impact my life. When I was in NH Fall '88 I was going to come up and visit but little Eddie was sick and you had you hands full. We weren't able to reschedule before I returned to CA. That was the last time I spoke to you (not counting digital communications, of course).

My heart goes out to you and your family on this tragic loss, Ralph. May time ease the pain and strengthen the memories.

An old babysitter cherishes memories of small boys enjoying the outdoors and moving their bodies in a big way. I remember fossils, car repair, digging in the dirt, playing at the toy store, and making just a huge mess of the house - so many carefree times. Even when things weren't perfect, there was enduring love and laughter. My heart aches, and I pray for your peace.

To the entire family, I have known you since I was a little kid, and grew up with both of you're boys. I can't begin to express how sorry I am for you're loss.

Matt

Ed and I grew up together as kids on Pepper Pike in West Chester before strip malls and industry, when there was one high school and before Ikea and Volvo developed land. We played in corn fields and fireworks when we were not allowed. ;) . We took days to adventure through the woods at the nature center, we spent summers at the YMCA in Middletown and high diving into the pool at Hycrest. We turned boring, hot, and humid Ohio Summers into some of the best childhood memories I have. As we grew up we took different paths, but I never forgot my earliest friend in life.

I will always remember you Ed.

Dear Ralph and Diane,
No words can express the great sympathy we feel in our hearts for the grief you are experiencing with the loss of Edward. He will be dearly missed in our group. "If I could reach up and hold a star for every time he made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand."
