Gerald MAGGARD Obituary
News Death Notice
MAGGARD, Gerald "Jerry" Age 81 of Hamilton, passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 6:55PM. He was born in Briscoe, AK on December 13, 1933 to Felix and Mallie (Napier) Maggard. Gerald was employed at The City of Fairfield Police Department as a Captain retiring after 30 years of service in 1985. He was also employed by the Butler County Auditor's office. Gerald was a United States Air Force Veteran from 1950-1954. He is a member of Fairfield Community Church. On May 31, 1974 in Tennessee he married Peggy Hoskins. Gerald enjoyed many different activities, including camping, yardwork, remolding of old houses, teaching Bible study class, watching grandchildren in many sporting activities, and always enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Peggy Maggard; his son/best friend, Jeff (Andi) Maggard; his sons, Mike (Tina) Maggard, Gary R. (Trenna Jossart) Hoskins; and his daughter Sonya (Marshall) Hodges; 7 grandchildren, Gage, Chase, Jacob, Zach, Karee, Laura, and Josh; 5 great grandchildren; and his long time friend Gaston (Jan) Bowling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mallie Maggard and Felix Maggard; and two brothers, Murrel and Harold Maggard. Funeral service will be held at Fairfield Community Church, 5650 Winton Rd, on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 1PM with Rev. Richard Sterwerf officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 11AM-1PM at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Fairfield Community Church. Condolences can be made at www.browndawsonflick.com.

Sorry to hear of Gerald's passing. I first met Captian Maggard in my 1970 police academy where he was an instructor. Then spent many a night on road patrol with him in Fairfield. A wonderful officer and many good memories. My condolences to the family.

Gerry was a great person to work with as I did in the past. Being employed by the Juvenile Court we crossed paths on many occasion. He was a gentleman and a friend. May he be in the "Palm of His Hands". RIP
