MORRIS, Jr., Gilbert Elliott 89, died April 25, 2017, in Longwood, Fla. Gil lived in Springboro for 50 years, moving there from California in 1964 with his wife, Mary, and their five sons. Gil worked for the American Rolling Mill Company (Armco) in Middletown for more than 30 years as a civil engineer. The family belonged to First Presbyterian Church and a number of other social organizations in the community. Gil was born Jan. 21, 1928, in Santa Monica, Calif., the second of two sons of Gilbert Elliott Morris and Muriel Hills Morris. Gil was an Eagle Scout and a Marine. Mary preceded him in death in 1982 after 29 years of marriage. Their eldest son Stephen died in 1983. Gil was remarried in 1984 to Nancy Myers Hawk. In 1995-1996, with Nancy's support, Gil and fellow Armco retiree Charles Logan led a community project of restoring the 1798 Null Log House in Springboro. Nancy died in 2000. Gil was later remarried for 14 years to Lorraine Ellis. Gil is survived by his four sons and their wives, Peter (Berri) of Longwood, Fla., Andrew (Jessie) of Fredericksburg, Va., Theodore of Hereford, Ariz., and Gilbert III / aka "Quent" (Sunnie) of Oxford, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter. To The Morris Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Gil. Gil and I worked for many years together at Armco/MPD. He was an outstanding engineer and very involved in church and community affairs. I always enjoyed being around him as he was a very interesting and likable person. He will be missed by all who knew him and may he rest in peace.
