Bro Lou was at Mother France so many times to see his people and I was so honored to be there when he prayed at the bedside. It was in preop. that I saw him off and on for years. I always thought his face shined like he just saw Jesus moments before, but I knew he had a special walk with him. I am very sorry I could not attend his memorial; he will be missed. Please find comfort in knowing he is with Jesus. How proud his family members must be of him. I feel blessed to have known him. God bless you. Jo Malone RN

The world has lost a fantastic man of God, but I can only imagine the thunderous applause that greeted Brother Lou at Heaven's Gates. Brenda, Janae, Jabo - the rest of the Thomas family - words cannot express the void left in so many peoples' lives at his passing. My hope is that the obvious outpouring of prayers for you all will help you through this time of sorrow. I love each and every one of you.

I don't know where to start... Brother Lou was like a father to me; a friend, confidant.. someone I could joke with, go hunting with or play golf with. He baptized both my children and has watched them grow into adults. I worked closely with Bro Lou in administrative functions as well as support functions at Lanes Chapel. I currently and in the foreseeable future still expect to be thoroughly involved at Lanes Chapel; singing with the choir and the Praise Team... but I don't know how it will be with the huge gap created by Lou's passing. Brother Lou was in my "small group"; one of the people I regularly interacted with and spoke to on a regular basis. I know Lou has joined his father in heaven and some day I plan to join that group as well.
My condolences to Brenda and the rest of Brother Lou's family if there is something I can do just ask.

Brenda, Melody & family. Sohayla & I are so saddened to learn about your profound loss. Recently I was behind Bro. Lou at Beckham & Lake. I thought it was him & then I saw his license plate. Really made me smile. I knew you all through Champions for Children. Later on Bro. Lou & I found out we shared a love for bluegrass music when he emceed at the Overton BG Festival. Bro. Lou covered lots of ground & I am so glad our path crossed & if we are good boys & girls I pray again someday on "Heavens Bright Shore"!

Bro. Lou was a positive influence on everyone he came in contact with. My heart is heavy after hearing of the loss of Bro Lou, but I rejoice with the angels that he is now in the presence of his King !
Bro Lou was indeed a special man. I'll never forget my first Sunday at LCUMC when he and Brenda greeted me and said "we've been waiting for you". He always knew and remembered me when I visited LCUMC after moving back to Alabama.
My heartfelt prayers and sympathy to Brenda and the family during this difficult time. He is loved by many and will be missed, but his legacy lives on.

I was valedictorian at Burkeville High in '66 when Lou was salutatorian. He was very charismatic. All the girls liked him. We sang "Memories" at our graduation and I remember feeling like that was the end of an era. That night was the last time I ever saw Lou. I always wondered what happened to him. I'm not surprised that he became a preacher and touched so many lives. Good Bye, Dear Friend, Rest in Peace.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Br. Lou. He and his family meant so much to the students of BHS. They were loved by the entire community of Burkeville, and the family touched everyone in a special way. I hold fond memories of the times we shared on the basketball court and the baseball field. Lou's dad encouraged me to achieve goals I would have otherwise never dreamed. His mom was an inspiration as home room sponsor and director of our school play. God continue to be with this family.

Bro Lou will be truly missed, but he is in his Father's house now rejoicing with the angels and singing his Father's praises. I loved to enthusiasm that Bro Lou brought to his sermons and especially when welcoming new members into the church, and for those rededicating their lives to Christ. God Bless the Thomas family, and I offer my deepest sympathies during this time of loss, but as we all know, he is with his Lord & Saviour and he could not be happier.

Our hearts are so heavy. I first met Bro. Lou when he was serving on the SCCADA board where I was employed. He was one of those people you felt like you had known forever upon first meeting. He counseled me on several occasions about struggles going on in my life. I was raised Southern Baptist and he would tell me, "That's ok. I won't hold that against you! I call myself Methobapticostal!" It was so exciting to be around Bro. Lou. His dedication to God and to the people he surrounded himself with was top notch. I loved watching him at our golf tournaments. His enthusiastic spirit was contagious. My husband and I loved to visit to hear him preach when we came home to TX . I know Lanes' Chapel is forever changed because of his life. Our prayers are with all of you. Heaven truly gained one of the best!

Thank you Lord for blessing us with your fine servant. No words can be said that will ease our earthly pain. He touched our family in many ways while at Bethlehem UMC in Hudson. Lou baptized both of our daughters, Meagan, and Jenae, who was named for his daughter, Janae. He performed Meagan's wedding ceremony. LOTS of DUCK HUNTING and other escapades were woven through the fabric of his messages. The Lord has one of His most precious angels. God watch over your family and may peace encompass your lives.

Only God knows how much I loved Lou Thomas.I was a member of Fairview when he came there. He was always smiling and had the best persoality. Deer season was going to open, he wanted to go so bad , but didn't have a gun so I loaned him mine. He killed his first deer with my gun and I wouldn't let anyone use my gun, but I let Lou. Bro Lou was my paster for almost 16 years. He was my friend and a friend to my children. I always knew that he loved me. He laughed with me, he cried with me and he prayed with & for me constantly. Bro Lou was the most godly man that I have ever known and will be deeply & sorely missed. I love him dearly.
Brenda, Mrs Thomas, Melody, Jasen and family - you are all in my prayers and my heart is broken for you. I am rejoicing at the rewards that Bro Lou has received in heaven and that he is worshipping with Jesus (and probably playing golf with St Peter!). I love you special!
