Mark RITZERT Obituary

RITZERT, Mark Alan 56, passed away in Dayton on June 14, 2018, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He lived his life with a deep faith and a remarkable demonstration of positivity and optimism. Mark will be deeply missed but he has been made whole and his heart is rejoicing in the presence of the living Christ. He was a UPS truck driver for 34 years and was a hard worker who built many friendships due to his quick wit and easy-going disposition. Mark loved riding his Harley (gave him such peace), playing harmonica (even in the ICU), listening to blues and folk music, building cigar box guitars, and being outdoors (especially fishing, camping, kayaking, bird-watching). He was a genuine "people person" who loved being with family and friends every time the opportunity arose. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth (Fox) Ritzert. He is survived by his soulmate/ best friend/ devoted wife, Jenni (Cyprych) Ritzert; dog-daughter, Ginger; stepdaughter, Jess Barnhill; stepson, Danny (Jodi) Barnhill; step grandson, Eli Williams; brother, Mike (Edie) Ritzert; sisters, Linda (Mike) Mayhall and Beth Ritzert; nephew, Jim (Melissa) Mayhall; niece, Erin (Rich) Seils; nephew, Grant Ritzert; stepmother, Joan Ritzert; great-nieces/nephews, Olivia, Hayden, Celia, Essa, Eleanor, Corinne; and many many friends. Mark's family will greet friends following a Memorial Service at 2:00 on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church, 4417 Bigger Road, Kettering. I can't beleive it's been five years since Mark passed away. I still have a picture of the two of us from many years ago on my dresser and think about him often. God rest your soul my friend and I know I'll see you again some day.

It's been almost a year since Mark has passed on and I still think about him almost every day. He was the best friend I ever had and you don't have many friends like that in your lifetime. I love you my friend, but I hope you don't mind if I stick around a while before joining you. Say hi to your parents and please wish my parents well.

Mark and I on his last ride . Now he's riding with the Angels. Miss you Brother !

Ever since my sister introduced me to her new beau I knew she had finally met her match . Mark has always been a friendly charismatic person to all of those who knew him. I am still in shock that he is no longer with us , his departure so sudden and without warning. I will miss him dearly.(I have always considered Mark my Brother but under Legacy.coms relationships section brother in-law was not an option).

Mark was and always will be a great and gentleman that I had the blessing to have known since his early days at UPS. Marks wonderful personality and talent was always a great experience especially when playing together in the band "Rock Salt" aka the UPS Band. Originally it was just Jack, Mark and myself jamming together having a fun time playing all sorts of songs and I know Mark loved the blues. Marks abilities in harmonica and musical history grew into a very talented and polished musician and historian. I would always ask Mark what songs the band could work on that he would want to play and he would tell me songs such as Abilene,Maybelline, Sweet Home Chicago, and Knockin on Heavens Door. I know God has his plans and we never know when he will call us home but I hope you know that Mark was loved by alot of co-workers and his bandmates and we will miss him dearly. As Marks surgury approached I had sent him a picture of me before I went into surgury in January of 2018 holding my guitar and when my doctor came in I started playing La Bamba. I had texted Mark this photo and my message "Heavens Blessings your way Rock Salt needs you Luv ya man." and Marks reply "Great pic! Thanks Alex, love you too!" To Marks family and friends my sincere and heartfelt condolences and know that God blessed each and everyone of us with Mark Alan Ritzert.

What great childhood memories I have of my first best friend, Mark. He was a blast to hang out with even then! My deepest condolences to all the family members. Remember all too well how tough it is to say goodbye to a sibling. Jenni - I am so glad Mark had you for his last years and life journey. You really lit up his life and did a great job of communicating with everyone. I will keep you all in my prayers. Unfortunately, we will be moving our daughter to Arizona at the time of the memorial, but we'll be with you in spirit. Peace be with you all.

I was very saddened to see Mark passed. I had not seen him since High School and I was unaware of his illness. We played on the same little league football team and had a few classes together. I considered him to be one of the nicest people I knew as a teenager. I'm sure his great personality traits followed him into adulthood. I'm so sorry that he is no longer with us.
