News Death Notice

MINNICK, Paul Joseph age 93, of Fairfield, passed away on April 24, 2012, at the age of 93. Paul was born on May 28, 1918, in Hamilton, the son of the late Frank and Margaret Minnick. He was educated at St. Ann Catholic School, graduated in 1936 from Hamilton Catholic School and attended Dayton University. On July 11, 1942, Paul married the love of his life, Melba Minnick (nee Schneider), who preceded him in death on February 27, 1996. He was employed for 51 years with the Ed Larkin Automotive Family, was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish for 47 years and the Fairfield VFW. Paul was a Reds fan for many years and attended 75 straight Reds Opening Day games. He also loved to sing karaoke, doing yard work and selling cars. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Jim Minnick and wife Corrine of Central City, Iowa, Tom Minnick and wife Pam of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, Paulette Keeley and husband Greg of Boulder, Colorado, Bill Minnick of Fairfield & Mike Minnick and wife Rhonda of Fairfield; his grandchildren, Jimmy Minnick, Tammy Soukamp, Alicia White, Emily Minnick, Kristi Westerling, Erin Keeley Phillips, Matthew Minnick, Elizabeth Minnick, Paul Minnick, Luke Minnick and Zach Mendenhall; also, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his wife Melba; his son, David Francis Minnick; his grandson, Sean Keeley; brothers, Stan Minnick, Francis Minnick, Al Minnick and Raymond Minnick; sisters, Margaret Schick and Mary Minnick; and his favorite golden retriever, Moose. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10am at the Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Rd., Fairifield, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 5-8pm at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 3950 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton.
