News Death Notice

WHITFIELD, Rev. Dr. Paul L. Born August 15, 1928 in Oriental, N.C. to General Taft and Eva Mae Whitfield. Was called from labor to reward December 6, 2014 age 86. A 21 year veteran of the United States Army, former Pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and current Associate Pastor of Tried Stone Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Dirtress G. Whitfield, two sons: Jessie L. Whitfield and Eric Gresham (Jacqueline), three daughters: Vera Whitfield, Regina Williams (Van), and Bernetta Brantley (Derek), one sister: Vera A. Smith, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, and many friends. Visitation will be held Friday, December 12, from 6-8pm at Tried Stone Baptist Church, 621 Lafayette Ave, Middletown, OH. Funeral services will begin 11am on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the church, Rev. Dr. Mitchel Foster, Pastor. Interment - Woodside Cemetery. Service entrusted to Hall-Jordan & Pretty Memorial Chapel. Thompsonhalljordan.com

He was the dearest and sweetest man that I had the blessing and pleasure. of calling Papaw. I miss him very much but I know that he is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ our King. God bless you Papaw please pray for all of us here on earth. Until we meet again.

We are truly sorry to hear about your lost. Rev. Whitfield always treated me like a daughter and Ebony and Essence as his granddaughters. He will be truly missed by one and all. Sorry, that we will not make it to the funeral, but you and the family are truly in our prayers.
