COMBS, Ray ''Tom'' Age 75, of Middletown, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe, where he had been a patient for 1 week. He was born August 17, 1931 in Middletown and lived here all his life. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1985 as a melter in the B.O.F. at Armco Steel Company after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Past President of Armco Association, and helped plan Armco Park Golf Course. He was the founder of the Armco Stars Square Dance Club. After retiring, he bought and refinished antiques. His grandchildren were the love of his life. He was preceded in death by parents, Andrew and Ollie (Estes) Combs; 4 sisters, Shirley Phillips, Millie Combs, Ella Hines and Nancy Ballard; 2 brothers, Charles Combs and Clayton Combs. He is survived by wife of 54 years, Glenna Combs; 2 daughters, Jan Leary, husband Jim – Middletown, Ohio, Tamara Totten, husband Jack – Middletown, Ohio; 1 son, Jon Combs, wife Lori – Middletown, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, Douglas Parker – Estes Park, Colorado, Sara Stimson – Middletown, Ohio, Elli, Amy and Katie Combs – Middletown, Ohio, Jennifer Leary – Denver, Colorado, Sean Leary, wife Candice – Middletown, Ohio; 2 brothers, Donald Combs, wife Donna – Middletown, Ohio, Jerry Combs, wife Ishi – Middletown, Ohio; 1 sister, Wanda Faulkner, husband Elmer – Middletown, Ohio; 1 brother-in-law, Mitchell Ballard – Franklin, Ohio; step-mother, Bessie Combs – Middletown, Ohio; 2 sisters-in-law, Fern Combs – Middletown, Ohio, Nona Scott – Dothan, Alabama; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown. Memorial Services will be Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Goff officiating, followed by Military Services by American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.

Combs Family: I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Ray was a great guy and will be missed. I remember as a young child his smiling face as he sat on the front porch each day and yelled at us (my sister Ella and cousins Beth and Butch Parrella) to come see him.
